AhlulBayt News Agency: The 18th International Resistance Film Festival wrapped up today, highlighting the deepening connection between art, cinema, and the global Resistance movement, particularly following recent events in Palestine.
According to Iran Press, during the closing ceremony, festival secretary Jalal Ghafari emphasized the unprecedented engagement from filmmakers worldwide, revealing that the number of submissions—spanning narrative, documentary, and animation—surpassed previous records, tripling in volume compared to the last edition.
“The events following the Al-Aqsa storm and October 7 were not only humanitarian wounds but also artistic wounds that resonated deeply with creators,” Ghafari stated. “Artists everywhere mobilized, proving that Resistance is not just a movement but a global phenomenon expressed through cinema.”
The festival underscored the importance of Resistance-themed discourse in film, reflecting growing sensitivity among artists to worldwide injustices. Organizers emphasized that the surge in submissions demonstrates how filmmakers are using their craft to amplify marginalized voices and expose oppression.
With its record-breaking participation and impactful storytelling, the festival reinforced cinema’s critical role in shaping global awareness and preserving narratives of struggle and perseverance.
